HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR | Pittsburgh, PA

THE ROLE

Join a hardworking field operations team responsible for safely operating heavy equipment and supporting site development activities. In this role, you’ll maneuver industrial equipment to move materials, maintain organized job sites, and help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and accurately. This position requires strong attention to safety, teamwork, and the ability to adapt to changing job site conditions.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Equipment operation: Safely operate motorized heavy equipment to move, load, and place rocks, debris, soil, and other materials as required for project execution

  • Material handling: Load and offload materials while ensuring accurate placement and proper handling procedures

  • Safety compliance: Follow all company and site-specific safety regulations, procedures, and operational guidelines at all times

  • Team collaboration: Communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and site personnel to clarify project needs and support daily operations

  • Equipment awareness: Monitor equipment performance and notify supervisors of needed repairs, upgrades, maintenance, or replacement needs

  • Site maintenance: Assist with maintaining a clean, organized, and safe job site at the end of each shift

  • Incident reporting: Report injuries, accidents, safety concerns, or operational issues promptly to management

  • Workflow support: Observe daily operations and provide suggestions to improve workflow, efficiency, and productivity where appropriate

  • Project support: Assist with additional labor and operational duties as needed to support overall project completion

WHAT YOU BRING

  • Prior experience operating a variety of heavy equipment in construction, industrial, or related environments

  • Strong understanding of heavy equipment safety procedures and operational best practices

  • Excellent hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity

  • Ability to work effectively in physically demanding outdoor environments

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills

  • Ability to follow instructions while also exercising sound judgment in dynamic work conditions

  • Attention to detail and commitment to safe, accurate equipment operation

  • Strong decision-making skills, especially in fast-paced or high-pressure situations

  • Ability to identify operational issues and communicate maintenance or repair needs

  • Willingness to work extended hours as project demands require

  • Excellent vision or corrected vision through prescribed lenses

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Dependable work ethic and commitment to maintaining a productive job site

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Prior experience operating heavy equipment

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds

  • Strong understanding of workplace and equipment safety guidelines

  • Ability to work extended hours as needed

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
