RENEWABLE ENERGY ENGINEER - St Louis, MO

Stetson Global is working with a leading global renewable firm to place multiple Renewable Energy Engineers throughout the US and at some international locations as well. This opportunity is based out of St Louis, MO, but will require 20% travel. The Renewables Engineer (RE) serves as the project's lead in all aspects of the project design by aligning and working with the construction management team to ensure they have the design plans, quantities, and parameters to build the work. He/she is responsible for developing and maintaining engineering standards for renewable systems and equipment, which includes solar, energy storage, and other renewable technologies. The RE is responsible for verifying that all site-specific engineering /control system designs and equipment specifications align with fleet standards and are accurately incorporated into each project’s Contractor Strategy. This is a high-visibility position with room to grow.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop engineering/control system design standards for each renewables system to include: Solar (panel type, trackers, inverters, controls)

  • Battery Energy Storage System (battery type, container, modified warehouse, control, inverters, etc.)

  • Develop major component/systems standards for each renewables system to include:

    • Transformer, Switchyard

    • Controls (including BOP integration and data security)

    • Fire Protection

    • Air handling

  • Create and maintain a repository for all project designs and renewable fleet standards

  • Establish a review/update cadence for all renewables fleet standards, to include incorporating lessons learned from previous projects

  • Coordinate with Site Support to ensure engineering and equipment standards are accurately incorporated into each project design

  • Complete a hazard analysis of all projects during the pre-construction phase to make sure that the design meets the technical, safety, and quality requirements.

  • Recognizes cost impacts of design changes and shares impacts with the project management and procurement team

  • Travels to support the site team (approx. 20% travel) and lead design reviews as required

  • Identify opportunities for streamlining work and reducing waste to improve efficiency.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 2-5 years' experience with Renewables

  • Bachelor of Science in an accredited Engineering or Engineering Technology program, preferably Electrical Engineering

  • Fluency in English. Second language is an asset

  • Electrical power engineering principles and familiarity with computer and analytical tools as related to equipment sizing, load flow, and power quality

  • Demonstrated effectiveness in leadership, interpersonal skills, communication, creative problem solving, and team building

  • Strong judgment and decision-making skills to consider the relative costs, benefits, and impacts of potential actions to choose the most appropriate one

  • High level of expertise in MS Office suite and use of CAD

  • Experience gained through college degree programs and/or certifications is applicable to the above skills

  • Successful delivery of renewables projects to Operations within established financial and production-related performance targets
