WATER QUALITY SPECIALIST - Extensive Travel

The Water Quality Specialist will be part of the Engineering team at our client's facilities both in the U.S. and internationally. This role focuses on managing steam systems, cooling water, and various water chemistries in multiple operating units. The position is initially project-oriented, ensuring systems are ready for a safe and timely startup of a new plant, transitioning to normal operations post-startup.


RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Troubleshoot unit cooling water, raw water, and steam system issues.
• Provide technical support to operating units, including daily monitoring and optimization efforts to improve water and/or steam efficiency, quality, and reliability.
• Manage cooling tower operation, hydrocarbon leak detection, and cooling tower chemicals throughout the facility.
• Manage high-purity boiler feed water and steam system operation, treatment, and technology to continuously drive system reliability.
• Provide technical information and guidance for chemical cleaning and passivation of process equipment.
• Provide utilities support for unplanned and planned outages and turnarounds.
• Responsible for design recommendations of new and existing chemical feed systems and water treatment equipment.
• Identify areas of opportunity for innovation and improvement.
• Assist with utility demand screening, design basis, and equipment requirements for projects.
• Participate in process safety-driven activities such as the Management of Change process, Pre-Startup Safety Reviews, and Incident Investigations.
• Ability to handle multiple activities and tasks at the same time.
• Ability to work cooperatively on cross-functional teams and autonomously.
• Interface and coordinate with contractors/operations on chemical passivation for commissioning activities.
• Assist in water chemistry training for operations and engineering support.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, chemistry, or related science field with a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, OR associate degree with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, OR certificate in chemistry or related science field with a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience.
• Working knowledge of water and/or steam treatment packages and programs.
• Self-starter with solid analytical, planning, execution, and organizational skills.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
